While there are so many cities in the world with its high-rise buildings, skyscrapers and hustle and bustle of everyday life, my small and lovely Taraz (Dzhambul) is the city of the serenity of mind.
Taraz city is well-known as
the ancient city which is more than 2000 years old. During centuries Taraz
played an important role as a cultural and trade centre of Kazakh Khanate and the Great
Silk Road. The main attractions of the city are its archeological and
historical sightseeing. Here you could visit ancient architectural monuments. The
city is a good place to stop for a day traveling between Tashkent and Almaty.
There are number of nice mausoleums of the 9-12th centuries inside
and around Taraz.
The Aisha bibi Mausoleum is
the monument of love and devotion, constructed in the 11-12 centuries.
Karakhan Mausoleum – is a delightful
architectural monument, a great creation of ancient Taraz. Near there are also Dautbek Mausoleum and restored mosque
of the 9-13 centuries. During the sightseeing tour you can visit the medieval bath of Cali – Yunus. Exhibits
of a museum of the cities of the Great Silk Road are also placed here.
The unique structure “Tekturmas” is located at the top of a
hill, near the Talas River.
This place is specific for its
variety of flora and fauna. It goes without saying that Taraz city is a place
of unspoiled nature with its unique landscape, good climate and clean water.
Nowadays
it is one of the fast growing cities of Kazakhstan with many parks, restaurants,
hotels, museums and theatres.
